Cool blog widgets!

Post any links to cool blog widgets in the comments!

Flickr is a great photo hosting service and they have an app that lets you make a rotating badge of photos here.

Librarything will allow you to show what you're reading.

Don't add too many complex ones or you may slow down your blog. But have fun!

I'm having too much fun blogging and html'ing. Just want to share a couple of lessons learnt ...

1. If you noticed how some of our blog page have this BLOGGER.COM search bar on top of the page, and it somehow covers part of our title. Well, if you go to the EDIT HTML tab and drop a couple of '< P >' or '< BR >', it will reveal your title in full. What happen is that '< P >' and '< BR >' pushes your title down by a line or two so that it will not be block by the BLOGGER.COM search bar.

2. If you are inserting pictures in your blog, try this ... (a) Go to SETTING > PUBLISHING and set your option back to Blogger.com instead of FTP. (b) Insert your pics. (c) Publish your blog. (d) Go back to SETTING > PUBLISHING and set your option back to FTP. (e) Edit your blog page again and publish it again, so that it gets moved to your Hostica server.

What these steps do is to reduce your pics loading up your Hostica 1GB memory space. If you insert your pics and publish it while your setting is at FTP, it will create an 'image' subfolder in your Hostica account and place alll your pics there. Not only will publishing be slower, the pics get uploaded to Hostica instead of Blogger.com and hence, use up the precious 1GB space.

Enjoy blogging.

Meebo widgets are also great. They allow your blog readers to chat with you whenever you are signed in. The widget don't require your readers to install software to chat - and (very nicely) it doesn't give out your 'real' chat ID. So, you can't have someone following you to chat outside of your blogging "office hours". This can be a problem if you use other IM programs (yahoo, msn, aol, etc.).

I forgot to include the address where you can get the widget - www.meebo.com

Check out my blog if you want to see what a widget looks/works like.

I finally got a Flickr account after hesitating for a year. And I had no idea the sign up process was easier if I already had a Yahoo account. *slaps forehead*

Like Abby, I just signed up with Flickr! It is so easy and useful. I wonder why I did not do this earlier.

I've uploaded some pictures, created the Flickr! batch and put it in my blog. Check it out!
